Conservatives Boycott Netflix After CEO Endorses Kamala Harris

Conservative American Bruce Townsend, a long-time Netflix user, canceled his subscription after learning that the streaming giant’s CEO endorsed Kamala Harris. Townsend made it clear why he was quitting Netflix—its support of Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential campaign was the breaking point.

Townsend isn’t alone. A wave of conservatives have been canceling their Netflix subscriptions ever since the news broke about Netflix CEO and Chairman Reed Hastings endorsing Harris. According to a report from Newsmax on September 30th, Netflix cancellations tripled after Hastings not only endorsed Harris in July but also followed up with a $7 million donation to a pro-Harris super PAC. The report highlighted:

“Three days after Hastings’ donation was reported, Netflix subscriptions dipped dramatically — it was the single worst day for terminations in 2024,” per Bloomberg.

Conservatives have had growing discontent with Netflix for some time due to what they see as the platform’s left-leaning stance. Even before the news of Hastings’ endorsement, some had already canceled their subscriptions, calling on like-minded Americans to follow suit.

Posts from MAGA supporters on X (formerly Twitter) indicate that they view Hastings’ endorsement of Kamala Harris as synonymous with an attack on America’s children and a threat to the country’s future.
