PepsiCo’s latest novelty, dubbed as “Colachup”, was unveiled this Tuesday. Yes, Pepsi, often regarded as the underdog competitor to Coca-Cola, is introducing its unique sauce. A soft launch is planned for several MLB ballparks across the country on Independence Day.
Provided they steer clear of Dylan Mulvaney, their advertising efforts should be fine…
“Colachup” is described as “ketchup infused with Pepsi”, leading to its rather interesting brand name. It’s billed as a “delicious, sweet, and salty topping” designed for hot dog fans at MLB games.
The real question is, how many beers will it take for this innovative condiment to hit the spot? Our guess is in the ballpark of six to eight. It’s likely to taste akin to a milder version of BBQ sauce.
As part of the #BetterWithPepsi campaign, Pepsi’s novelty ketchup will be available exclusively at selected ballparks on the Fourth of July. These include Chase Field in Phoenix; Comerica Park in Detroit; Target Field in Minneapolis; and Yankee Stadium in New York.
If you’re someone who believes that more sauce equals a better ballpark meal, this could be your ideal accompaniment.
On the other hand, for those with discerning tastebuds and a preference for ballpark food that shines without the need for a deluge of condiments, this new ketchup might not be so appealing.
PepsiCo, if you’re listening, send us a bottle. We promise to give it an unbiased assessment.
