A federal bill that mirrors Florida’s ‘Parental Rights in Education’ bill, dubbed by its opponents as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, has been in the spotlight in the past month as prominent Democrats have hysterically denounced it.
The bill, called the Parents’ Bill of Rights Act, would not allow schools to recommend so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ to their children without first notifying parents and getting their consent.
Representative Alexandria Occasio Cortez (D-Ny.) gave a heated speech on the House floor where she called the bill ‘fascist’ and said keeping parents in the loop about their own child’s care and well-being would ‘marginalize’ LGBT children.
Now, House Minority Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) said that the bill presents a ‘threat’ to trans children.
Pelosi called the Republican majority in the house ‘extreme’ for passing the bill and said that it would ‘force’ transgender children to be outed to their families.

The bill passed by a narrow 213-208 margin and will likely not pass the Democrat-held Senate or be signed by President Biden.

Nancy Pelosi believes legislation that would prevent schools from socially transitioning children without parental consent is a “threat” to so-called “trans children” because it would force schools to out them to their families.
Pelosi was speaking at a Los Angeles event hosted by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and took the opportunity to warn the assembled crowd of the threats on the horizon in the form of legislation targeting children.
“Yesterday, the extreme Republican majority in the House passed a bill that would force schools to out children to their families, and for kids in less accepting households that could put their safety and well-being at risk. But that was passed by the House of Representatives,” said Pelosi.
The bill Pelosi is referring to is the Parents’ Bill of Rights Act that was narrowly passed on March 24 by a vote of 213-208. The bill would require that elementary and middle schools obtain parental consent before allowing a child to socially transition, i.e. change their name and pronouns.
Pelosi assured the audience that the bill “won’t become law. The President will never sign; it won’t pass the Senate.”
