The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency has recently shifted 25 agents to the US-Canada border in response to a significant increase in illegal immigration.
This influx of migrants, primarily from Mexico, has been utilizing an unconventional route, first flying to Canada and then crossing the border into the United States via the Swanton Sector. This sector encompasses Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York.
In January, US Border Patrol agents captured a staggering 367 illegal immigrants, an unprecedented number compared to the past 28 years when only 28 illegal aliens were apprehended in the Swanton Sector. Just within the first week of March, Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia stated, “94 individuals from 11 different countries were apprehended across New York and Vermont.”
According to NBC News, the CBP has deployed 25 additional agents to this bustling section of the northern border as the number of Mexican migrants crossing into the US from Canada continues to rise.
Some of these agents were previously stationed on the southern border. NBC News had earlier reported on the growing trend of Mexicans legally arriving in Canada by air and then crossing into the United States.
Frustration is mounting among local residents in the Swanton Sector, an area that covers parts of New York and Vermont. The sudden surge in illegal migration has affected their daily lives, and they are eager to see the situation resolved. As quoted in an exclusive report, these residents are “fed up over the local impacts of an influx in illegal migration.”
The United States currently faces immigration challenges on multiple fronts. The Gateway Pundit recently reported that almost 1,000 illegal aliens stormed the El Paso, Texas port of entry in an attempt to enter the country. With pressure building on both the northern and southern borders, it is crucial for the United States to develop comprehensive immigration strategies and deploy resources effectively to address these ongoing concerns.
