Trump accepts Nikki Haley’s call for mental competency test, AND ups the ante

Donald Trump has not only accepted Nikki Haley’s call for competency tests for candidates over the age of 75, he upped the ante by proposing that these same candidates be tested for physical fitness as well — this potentially being a double whammy for the current 80-year-old occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, President Joe Biden.

Haley spoke of a “new generation” last week when she announced her bid to be the Republican presidential nominee, the first candidate to join Trump in the GOP primary.

“We’re ready – ready to move past the stale ideas and faded names of the past, and we are more than ready for a new generation to lead us into the future,” Haley said last week during an announcement speech in Charleston, S.C.

“In the America I see, the permanent politician will finally retire,” she added. “We’ll have term limits for Congress and mandatory mental competency tests for politicians over 75 years old.”

Talking to his Truth Social platform, Trump voiced his support for a competency test for ALL candidates, along with a physical check.

“ANYBODY running for the Office of President of the United States should agree to take a full & complete Mental Competency Test simultaneously (or before!) with the announcement that he or she is running, & likewise, but to a somewhat lesser extent, agree to a test which would prove that you are physically capable of doing the job,” Trump wrote. “Being an outstanding President requires great mental acuity & physical stamina. If you don’t have these qualities or traits, it is likely you won’t succeed. MAGA!”

Trump said during the 2020 presidential election that he had taken a cognitive test, as he challenged Biden’s mental competency. There were only two presidential debates in 2020 and Biden managed to survive them.

In the 2020 clip below with Fox News’ Dr. Marc Siegel, the former president detailed the test he took.

“It was 30, 35 questions. The first questions are very easy. The last questions are much more difficult. Like a memory question. It’s like you’ll go ‘person, woman, man, camera, TV.’ So they say could you repeat that? I said, yeah. ‘Person, woman, man, camera, TV.’ Okay, that’s very good. If you get it in order, you get extra points.”
