This Thursday, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) argued that 2024 candidate President Trump will either receive the Republican nomination or else he will “burn down” the eventual nominee.
Ocasio Cortez began by discussing the removal of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from the House Committee of Foreign Affairs — an action she felt was unjustified.
“I think Speaker McCarthy gets a fundraising boom. I think he gets potentially currying favor with either Trump and his base, saying I delivered on these promises. I’m a good soldier to the Trumpian political base. I am really letting the world know that the House Republican Party is now being fully transformed,” Ocasio Cortez told CNN’s ‘Anderson Cooper 360.’ “We are cementing the transformation. Even with Donald Trump being gone, they’re cementing the transformation of the Republican Party into a Trumpian party. One that settles petty political scores that is no longer motivated by a classic quote, unquote ‘conservative politics of reducing a tax base’ et cetera, but this is truly about service to their benefactors.”
Ocasio Cortez then turned to a conversation she had with Republican Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) last month. She stated she was uncomfortable with him and still supported his removal from key committee assignments after he posted an anime video to his Twitter page in 2021, a video she perceived to be a threat. The mention of Representative Gosar, who is a strong supporter of President Trump, served as an occasion for guest anchor John Berman to turn the conversation back to the 45th president.
After Berman asked if Ocasio Cortez felt Trump would receive the 2024 Republican nomination for the presidency, AOC replied, “I mean, we may see. He will either be the nominee, or he will burn down anyone who isn’t him who is the nominee.”
You can feel the disdain the New York Congresswoman has for Donald Trump from these remarks. She does not like the man, a great man who helped to make America great during his four years in office. As Biden continues to destroy our country, we hope Ocasio Cortez will realize the error she made in supporting him.
